The Historical Pact Caucus condemns the attack on Miguel Uribe Turbay: "Never again hate speech."
On June 7, 2025, 47-year-old Democratic Center senator and presidential candidate Miguel Uribe Turbay was shot several times while presiding over a political meeting in the Modelia sector of the town of Fontibón, in western Bogotá.
Immediately, various political sectors, the national government, President Gustavo Petro, ministers, former presidents, party colleagues, and members of the opposition have strongly rejected this type of action through social media.

In an official statement published in X, the Historical Pact, a party within the current government, rejected what happened and expressed solidarity with the senator's family. They also urgently called for national unity against political violence.
"The political parties, the Political Committee, and the progressive movement as a whole strongly reject the attack against Miguel Uribe Turbay, presidential candidate for the Democratic Center, and we express our deepest solidarity with his members and family," the publication reads.
"We have suffered extermination, the assassination of our most important leaders and presidential candidates . This reality, which we carry in our memory and history, leaves no room for ambiguity. This should never happen again in Colombia."
The government's bloc calls for respect for the opposition and demands guarantees so that all sectors can exercise their right to political participation.
"We join in the call for respect for the opposition and for immediate action from our government to defend their legitimate right to political participation. In our country, we must prioritize guarantees and security for all stakeholders in the electoral arena."

"We call for an urgent meeting of all political parties; Colombia's unity in these painful times is imperative."
"We advocate for Senator Uribe's health and speedy recovery, and we offer our full solidarity to his family and friends. We demand a prompt and effective investigation and full justice for those responsible."
“No more hate speech, no more calls to violence!” the statement said.
